This pitcher is a one of a kind and really stands alone as an art piece.  It is fully functional and easy to grasp.  While creating the piece I intentionally formed a place for your hand to grasp.  It is constructed using soft slabs of clay that have been painted with colored slips.  Shapes from various slabs are cut and reassembled onto a final slab and then compressed to form the final clay convase from which the piece is constructed.  It is a time consuming process that yields an itentional yet spontaneous surface design.  Because  the clay canvas has been repeatedly compressed it is also strong in it's structure.
